Money
There are several ATM's at the banks located around town that accept cards on the Cirrus and Plus systems for direct withdrawal of pesos. You may want to withdraw money at the beginning of the weekend, as the ATM's occasionally run out of cash during busy weekends. Dollars and traveler's checks can be exchanged for pesos at the 5 banks around town or Cambios, (the money changers, at least 3 in town). Hours of operation vary.

Atencion is the English-language paper.
Pharmacy
Botica Agundis, canal 26 at Macias is open daily from roughly 10am to midnight. Chelo will fill U.S. prescriptions or prescribe medicine for whatever ails you.

To call San Miguel from the United States, dial 011 52 415 followed by the seven digit number. To dial the U.S. from San Miguel dial 001 followed by the U.S. area code and number.
Internet Access
There are several Internet cafés in San Miguel. There is one right off of the Jardin at Correo #12-A that's open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Satellite Internet at Hidalgo 23 is open 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Water
Although the water is safe to drink in most restaurants, we recommend drinking bottled water and also purchasing some for you rooms.
Tourism Office
Located just off the jardin and is open 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the week and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.

Taxis
Plentiful and cheap. Cabs don't have meters and the flat fare in the city is about $1.50 which doubles if you call a taxi. Fares are higher after 10:00 p.m. Fares to outlying areas can be negotiated.
Tipping
It is customary to tip 10-15% or more in restaurants. It is not customary to tip taxi drivers unless you are traveling to or from the airport.
